Insight of “S” family Stenting Techniques from Bench Testing
Author: Yutaka Hikichi, MD, Saga University School of Medicine, Saga, Japan
ADVANTAGES
- Procedure is comprehensively simple.
- The risk of side branch obstruction is low.
LIMITATIONS
- It is difficult to determine the position of side branch stent
- the side branch wiring, does not always lead to positive outcomes.
- The dilation of side branch ostium is limited due to the design of using stents.
CONCLUSION
- What happens in reality is far more complicated than what we see at laboratory.
- The methods that don’t give a sufficient result on basic research would hardly be useful in actual clinical cases.
- Far different results would be obtained, all depending on the “diameter of vessel” “Angle of Bifurcation” “Technique” “stent type”, and moreover, the operator’s skill.
