BACKGROUND

The prospective, multicenter ABSORB trial evaluated the safety and performance of the BVS* everolimus eluting coronary stent system in the treatment of patients with single, de novo, native coronary artery disease.

CONCLUSION

  • At long-term (2 years), struts malapposed at the ostium of the sidebranch or at the rim of the ostium are for a large majority apposed, absorbed and incorporated in intimal bridges.
  • 3D orientation of these bridges and their possible interference with flow in the sidebranch can with great difficulty be visualized from 2D analysis. 3D OCT will be necessary to visually apprehend the real anatomy of the persisting struts in front of the ostium of the sidebranch.
