CONCLUSION

A biomechanical approach to atherosclerotic plaque and PCI is mandatory to improve our knowledge and our way of thinking, but does not necessarily makes things more comprehensible, but rather often adds novel complexities

Computerized simulation is a very useful tool for that

These simulations require in vivo assessment of plaque geometry and precise elasticity maps.

Grayscale IVUS or VH offer this geometrical assessment but without accuracy for detecting Young’s moduli.
IVUS with Modulography could probably provide these data.
