Outcome after provisional T-stenting with the endothelial progenitor cell capturing stent
Author: Robbert De Winter, MD, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the one year clinical outcome in patients treated with the Endothelial Progenitor Cell (EPC; Genous) capturing stent for a bifurcation lesion using a provisional T-stenting technique.
METHODS
Retrospective, single-center experience Patient selection:
- all patients treated for a bifurcation lesion with an EPC capturing stent
Major exclusion criteria:
- Patients undergoing primary PCI for ST-elevation myocardial infarction
- In-stent restenosis or grafts
LIMITATIONS
- Non randomized, retrospective
- Single-center
- Small population
- No systematic angiographic follow-up
CONCLUSION
- Provisional T-stenting for bifurcation lesions with the EPC capturing stent results in good 1 year clinical outcome
- Genous may be a good option in particular in patients with contra indications for DAPT
- Randomized trial is needed
