Author: Olivier Darremont, MD, Clinique St. Augustin Bordeaux, France

STUDY OBJECTIVE AND PARAMETER

  • Objective: Test and understand differences in kissing balloon techniques.
  • Kissing Balloon test scenarios:
    • Direct Kissing Balloons
      • Kissing balloons with simultaneous inflations
    • Main Artery Inflation Started 1st with Kissing Balloons
      • Main artery balloon is inflated before side branch balloon inflation is started
  • Side Branch Inflation then Kissing Balloons
    • Complete side branch inflation then kissing balloons with simultaneous inflations
  • All samples had Proximal Optimization Technique (POT) completed prior to side branch access.
  • All stents were orientated the same within the artery and wired in the same location.

CONCLUSION

  • “Small first” is better for side branch metalapposition
  • “3 times” is better than 1
  • Promus Premier is much better than ELEMENT
