Kissing balloon inflation with BSCI stents: Bench test analysis
Author: Olivier Darremont, MD, Clinique St. Augustin Bordeaux, France
STUDY OBJECTIVE AND PARAMETER
- Objective: Test and understand differences in kissing balloon techniques.
- Kissing Balloon test scenarios:
- Direct Kissing Balloons
- Kissing balloons with simultaneous inflations
- Main Artery Inflation Started 1st with Kissing Balloons
- Main artery balloon is inflated before side branch balloon inflation is started
- Direct Kissing Balloons
- Side Branch Inflation then Kissing Balloons
- Complete side branch inflation then kissing balloons with simultaneous inflations
- All samples had Proximal Optimization Technique (POT) completed prior to side branch access.
- All stents were orientated the same within the artery and wired in the same location.
CONCLUSION
- “Small first” is better for side branch metalapposition
- “3 times” is better than 1
- Promus Premier is much better than ELEMENT
