Bifurcation lesions quantitative analysis
Perspectives of the phantom bifurcation model: new insights with virtual flow/CFD using STL files
Author: J.J. Wentzel, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
CONCLUSION
- Development of a parametric coronary bifurcation model for numerical analysis (e.g. for pressure ratio evaluation, for the assessment of stenting techniques, …)
- DISTAL MAIN BRANCH: FFR is combined result of distal stenosis and proximal stenosis
- Distal stenosis minimal effect on FFR
- Large influence of bifurcation angle!this is probably because of shape of the bifurcation region
- SIDE BRANCH : FFR is combined result of side branch and proximal stenosis
- small SB stenosis
- flow through side branch minimal effect on FFR
- large SB stenosis results in change in FFR and thus flow through side branch is important
