TAP (T stenting with small protrusion) technique with BVS

Author: Toru Naganuma, MD, FACC, New Tokyo Hospital, Chiba, JAPAN, San Raffaele Scientific Institute and EMO-GVM Centro Cuore Columbus, Milan, ITALY

ADVANTAGES OF TAP

  • No re-crossing of the SB struts to perform FKBI
  • Minimal protrusion of SB stent into the MB
  • Ensuring ostial coverage of SB

TAKE HOME MESSAGES

  • OFDI images clearly demonstrate that both 1) dilation with a 2.0mm balloon at low pressure (6atm.) towards SB and 2) T- balloon technique (kissing inflation with minimal protrusion) do not cause BVS disruption.
  • TAP technique with BVS is feasible despite thickened struts.
  • TAP with BVS on MB and DES on SB is another favorable op9on.
  • We need to investigate clinical outcomes following BVS implantation for bifurcation lesions.
