Bifurcation lesions involved in the recanalization process of coronary CTO: Incidence, treatment & clinical implications

Author: Manuel Pan. Reina Sofia Hospital. University of Cordoba

OBJECTIVES

  • To analyse the incidence of bifurcation lesions during CTO PCI.
  • To assess treatment strategy for bifurcations in this scenario.
  • To identify predictors of bifurcation technical success.
  • To study the impact of this association on immediate and mid-term outcomes.

CONCLUSION

  • Bifurcation lesions in CTO is a frequent finding and could be approached as regular bifurcations.
  • The primary success was lower than that obtained in non-CTO bifurcation lesions and this was associated with a higher incidence of periprocedural MI.
  • However, the rate of MACE at follow-up was acceptable and similar to that observed in CTO without bifurcations involved.
  • Baseline SB wiring was a powerful predictor of technical
