Frequency ad impact of acute stent deformation after PCI of LM artery disease: EXCEL IVUS sub-study

Author: Akiko Maehara, Columbia University, Cardiovascular Research Foundation, New York

CONCLUSION

  1. In the IVUS substudy of the EXCEL trial, procedural deformation of LM CoCr-EES was not infrequent (6.5% of 506 pts), and was most commonly located at the LM ostium (81.8% of stent deformations).
  2. Stent deformation of the LM coronary artery detected by IVUS was strongly associated with LM-related MACE (in particular LM- related MI and LM-related ischemia-driven TLR) during 3-year follow-up.
