CTO and Bifurcation
One vs Two-stent Strategy for the Treatment of Bifurcation Lesions in the Context of a Coronary CTO: A Multicenter Registry
Author: Soledad Ojeda, Reina Sofía Hospital. Córdoba
OBJECTIVE
To compare the procedural and mid-term clinical outcomes of patients with bifurcation lesions in CTO treated with provisional stenting versus 2-stent techniques in a multicenter registry
CONCLUSION
- Bifurcation lesions in the context of a CTO-PCI are a frequent finding and represent a challenging situation
- In our experience, provisional stenting was the chosen strategy in most patients
- No significant differences in technical, procedural success and in the incidence of MACE at follow-up were observed compared with patients treated with the complex strategy
- These findings were confirmed in the propensity score-matched population, and the procedural metrics (contrast volume, fluoroscopy time, and radiation dose) all favored the simple approach
