The impact of bifurcation stenting techniques on the clinical events: the stratified analysis of 2,510 bifurcated lesions according to MADS classification in the GLOBAL LEADERS trial
Author: Patrick W. Serruys, MD PhD, Imperial College London, United Kingdom
OBJECTIVES
- To assess the feasibility of an e-CRF dedicated to bifurcation treatment based on the MADS classification
- To investigate the clinical impact of bifurcation stenting techniques according to the MADS classification in the largest, ever made multinational stent randomized trial to date.
CONCLUSION
- Standardization of bifurcation treatment using a dedicated e- CRF based on the MADS classification (As recommended by the EBC) was feasible in the larger stent randomized trial.
- Two or more stent strategy was associated with higher rate of TVR and definite or probable ST at 2 years compared to single-stent strategy in patients with bifurcation lesion and would benefit from a monotherapy with ticagrelor
- Crush stenting was associated with a trend(non significant) towards lower incidence of TVR and ST compared to other two-stent techniques in patients treated with two-stent strategy.
