TAKE HOME MESSAGES

  • Trying to break a knotted wire on a stent is probably safer when a balloon is advanced close to the stent
  • Especially when we have to deal with a Promus stent which has a weak longitudinal resistance
  • Magnum olive-shaped wire is a useful tool to advance through a distorted stent.
  • Stent design is a tradeoff:
    • Stent flexibility, crossing profile (decrease strut thickness)
    • Longitudinal integrity
