European Bifurcation Club 2017 – EBC 2017 – Porto, Portugal

SESSION 8: Left Main Bifurcation

One vs two stent technique in the Noble trial

Author: Evald Høj Christiansen, Aarhus University Hospital – Aarhus DK

DESIGN

A prospective, randomized, open-label, non-inferiority trial, carried out at 36 hospitals in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, United Kingdom, and Denmark

Enrollment: December 2008 to January 2015

CONCLUSION

  • Similar MACCE rates in LM bifurcations vs non bifurcations
  • Similar MACCE rates in one vs. two stent techniques in LM bifurcations
  • Confirms the relative low importance of stratifying patients with anatomical SYNTAX score
  • LM PCI calls for lesion coverage/complete revascularization rather sticking to a one stent technique
  • Using two stent techniques requires kissing balloon inflations as opposed to a neutral effect in single stent strategies
