STENT FOR BIFURCATION TREATMENT – IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Easy to implant
    • Reach the carena and fit the coronary anatomy
  • Safe
    • Allow side branch access for “kissing balloon” and provisional T stenting
  • Effective
    • Optimal scaffolding of the carena & side branch ostium
    • Long term clinical outcome (i.e. DES)

THE IDEAL STENT FOR Y SHAPED BIFURCATIONS – CONCLUSION

  • Should be easy to implant, flexible and with a low profile to reach the carena
  • Modified to fit the coronary anatomy
  • The implantation technique combined with the stent characteristics should allow the correct side branch access for:
    • Optimal scaffolding of the carena & side branch ostium
    • Provisional T stenting using a dedicated SB stent delivery system
  • Long term clinical outcome (now with DES)
