STENT FOR BIFURCATION TREATMENT – IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Easy to implant
- Reach the carena and fit the coronary anatomy
- Safe
- Allow side branch access for “kissing balloon” and provisional T stenting
- Effective
- Optimal scaffolding of the carena & side branch ostium
- Long term clinical outcome (i.e. DES)
THE IDEAL STENT FOR Y SHAPED BIFURCATIONS – CONCLUSION
- Should be easy to implant, flexible and with a low profile to reach the carena
- Modified to fit the coronary anatomy
- The implantation technique combined with the stent characteristics should allow the correct side branch access for:
- Optimal scaffolding of the carena & side branch ostium
- Provisional T stenting using a dedicated SB stent delivery system
- Long term clinical outcome (now with DES)
