SUMMARY
- CABG provides long-term mortality benefit (15-20 years) both in trials and “real life”
- Recent data with PCI and DES are promising but long term follow-up is lacking (maximum 43 months)
- Randomized data are being collected (Syntax)
- CABG should always be offered as the first choice
- Any other attitude is only possible because we do not (yet) live in a litigation environment
